Hi Woodyz
How is the Host connected to the LAN, Ethernet or Wi-Fi?
- Wi-fi, this is in my home office or the actual works office. Also same on LAN connection though.
What type of Router in used on the LAN?
- Home router is the BT homehub3, office, no idea.
How is the Guest's Network Adapter configured, Bridged, NAT, Host-Only or LAN Segment?
- I have 2 adapters, the NAT (no problem in this one) and another on Host-Only (VMNet1) which increments by one each startup.
- For this Host-Only I have configured a static ip address 192.168.110.100 on the IPv settings inside the guest
- On the VM Virtual Network Editor I have ticked "Use Local DHCP service..." and set the subnet IP: to 192.168.110.0 and set subnet mask: to 255.255.255.0
- On the DHCP Settings dialog I have;
Start IP address: 192.168.110.128
End IP Address: 192.168.110.254
In Windows 7 what type of Network are you selecting, Home, Work or Public?
- It offers all, but I am selecting Work each time so I can see the network
In Windows 7 is the Network Adapter configured for DHCP or have you set a Static IP Address?
- The host (my laptop) is DHCP
If DHCP, have you tried setting a Static IP Address?
- Cannot do this on work laptop. DCHP to my wi-fi, then Cisco AnyConnect to work VPN.
Although same problem if I do or do not connect to work VPN.
I have other VMs though that never ask for the network location on restarts on the same Laptop and also using Host-Only adapter with a static IP address to allow me to run services for test systems to known addresses.
Hope answers above help
Simon
