Greetings,

I hit a PSOD on my homelab (non enterprise/home desktop components), and was hoping someone could clarify if this is hardware/software related. I didn't have much success finding information related to "Tcpip4 wtask", so any additional information would be great.

No new BIOS available for my motherboard, and I do plan to upgrade to 6.7 U3 soon.

Don't forget to install the SCSI buslogic driver beforehand so that when you boot the VM, the new SCSI disk can be read.

how can i install scsi driver? i changed my hard disk to lsilogic but diont boot up

Powershell Core on Photon OS does not built-in register PSGallery. Hence cmdlets install-module, find-module, etc. are not working.

Edited:

Put some work on this. You may use one of the attached files.

As alternative, simply pull and run:

  • docker pull vmware/powerclicore:ubuntu16.04
  • docker run -it vmware/powerclicore:ubuntu16.04

Explorer.exe using large amounts of CPU until UEM explorer profile is cleared

We have noticed this issue sporadically with different users. Explorer seems to max out a processor for no reason and it will persist with each logon until the explorer uem profile is reset. We were using UEM 9.2.1 and recently upgraded to 9.4. We saw it before the upgrade but I would guess any profiles we found it on were created in 9.2.1. Just checking if anyone has seen the issue and if they resolved it in there environment.

After a lot of testing and seeing this come up even after adding the registry exclusion I recently stumbled upon this on technet and it works in all of our tests.

Explorer.exe High CPU with redirected Desktop folder

We are rolling this out so we will see if removing the explorer exclusions reveals that this is two issues or just one but from our testing they will not be needed.

To summarize you should see this issue when you are using folder redirection. I could reproduce by opening explorer. Opening a folder on the redirected desktop then going anywhere else. Instant 50% of two CPU consumed by explorer.exe.

We could temporarily fix the issue by removing the MRUListEx registry entries. We actually also tried removing the set of MRUListEx entries on each key below on logoff but they are only temporary if the users are doing the same actions.

We are deploying the PS script from the article as a UEM (Now DEM) asynchronous logon task

powershell.exe -executionpolicy bypass (folder path)\Exploerfix.ps

Going to give this some time and monitor with Vrops before submitting to VMware as a bug.

No, not without a router (VM) in between them.

NUMA node count not right

$

Hello again, I hope to get a reply on this one.. I have a vCluster with 8 nodes ESXi 6.5, all HP DL560 G10 with 4 sockets. All with HT enabled. However 7 show the following numa nodes count:

[root@esx000009:~] esxcli hardware memory get | grep NUMA

   NUMA Node Count: 8

and one only shows the following:

[root@esx000008:~] esxcli hardware memory get | grep NUMA

   NUMA Node Count: 4

why would that be?? They are all alike... I can't think of anything that clarifies this ackward host

I tried to install drivers, but no matter what I do Windows says there's a conflict with the VGA driver and it won't let me switch. I've tried Windows 98 and ME and they work fine. What gives?

Workstation 15.5 install package calling for non-existent file

I've been trying to install the 15.5 Workstation update and the installer package calls for a folder starting as {50A2BC33-C9.....etc

However, the package caches downloaded by the installing software place 2 folders in the Package Cache folder:

{4931385B-094D-4DC5...etc

and

{F3241984-5A0E...etc.

What is the workaround for the installer package to complete the installation of 15.5?

Many thanks for a solution.

Re: Creating a VM from a snapshot

HI,

You can convert the machine you want to clone into Template, then create a new virtual machine from that template, modifying hostname, IP and SID.When you have finished creating the new VM with the modified parameters, you can convert the template back to a virtual machine.

Shutting down VSA 6.7 cluster

Hello I just built and tested my first VSAN 6.7 cluster.  Now I need to shut it down and physically move the whole thing to a new location for production.

I have Cluster/HA/DRS running.  vCenter is running on the cluster and one other virtual machine.  Can anyone help me with the sequence in how to shut it all down?

Here is how I think it should go:

1.Turn off HA

2. Turn off DRS

3. Turn off Cluster (not sure about this one).

4. Power off VM

5.  Power off vCenter

6. Login into vSphere client of each host and place host into maintenance mode.

7. Power off each host.

I just want to make sure that when i power it all back up, everything comes up nicely.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Pawel, they are identical in everything. They were purchased at the same time. They all have 1.5TB RAM each. The ones that show 8 numa nodes in esxtop they show 8 numa nodes of 196GB RAM while that only one that has 4 shows 4 numa nodes of 375GB RAM. I don't understand why the difference..

This problem is gone since upgrading to MacOS 10.15.1 (Catalina) and VMware Fusion 11.5.0.

Fresh boot, FileVault on, 4GB VM loads in about 2 Seconds.

Are servers with the same memory size, DIMMs etc. ?

Does it have the same processors?

Compare BIOS settings in regard to NUMA and Memeory interleaving.

Compare BIOS settings in regard to NUMA and Memeory interleaving.

That's only one thing which comes to my mind.

Usually PSOD is caused by firmware issue.

Check your hardware and firmware with actual compatibility matrix.

Re: Creating a VM from a snapshot

If you mean from an old state/snapshot, you would need to revert the VM to that snapshot first.

If you then wanted the original VM to get back to the most recent state, you’d need to take a new snapshot before doing the initial revert and clone, then revert to that new snapshot afterwards and delete it.

Can you paste screenshot of that PSOD?

PSOD is usually connected with firmware/drivers of I/O devices like Storage HBA, Network interfaces etc.
